Apart from the standard archeological museums a visitor can find in Santorini where he can admire the advanced pre-historic civilization of the island and appreciate its long history he can also visit other museums such as the museum of Ancient, Byzantine and post – Byzantine musical instruments.
A very interesting and worth visiting museum on the island which is housed in the old Community building of Oia village, a very central spot on the island.
This museum hosts the personal collection of a prominent musician mr Halaris and includes musical instruments that date from 2800 B.C till the early 20th century.
The reconstruction of some of those was done with the contribution of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The categorization of the exhibits was made according to their date and kind.
